I bumped into an elderly co-passenger in train the other day who was struggling to manage his contacts on phone. Sensing that I am a technology guy due to my laptop, I guess he asked me for help. Now for any of us who have grown in the word of technology, this is certainly not the most difficult problem to solve. Sure enough, I helped him out and was satisfied to see a smile on his face. Before I could decide whether to agree or disagree, my station was waiting for me and I stepped out of the train.

Developed an automated calibration setup to measure and characterize the magnetic field strength in the workspace of a minimally invasive brain surgery apparatus and accounted for the deviations due to the stray fields to improve the wireless control of magnetically actuated micro-surgical tools. I am heading the Motion Planning and Controls software subsystem of Team SeDriCa and have implemented countless algorithms including a path planner, velocity planner and a decision-making architecture for the vehicle. Currently working on implementing a lateral control algorithm for SeDriCa with the guidance of Professor Shashikanth Suryanarayanan.
Much of this research is funded by national and international funding agencies, both government and corporate. The research is published in leading international journals and conferences. Currently there are about students enrolled in various academic programs, about project employees in various sponsored projects, about 30 technical staff, 30 administrative staff and about 60 faculty members. The department, through the Electrical Engineering Students Association EESA, maintains regular contact with its alumni, many of whom are well-known and established in their careers across the world.
